Streets

The Street Department is part of Public Works. They are housed in the City Shop at 405 E. Portland Ave. The phone number is 784-5595.

The Street Department has annual Spring and Fall cleanups where they will pick up yard debris and leaves for no fee. Be sure and watch the Web Site, the Shoshone News Press and our Facebook page for dates and times.

During the winter months, the Street Department would like to remind you to keep your vehicles, trailers, etc. off of the streets to facilitate plowing. There is no set route for plowing other than all main arterials and school bus routes are plowed first. There are areas of town (uptown-Main & McKinley and Cameron Avenue) that are signed for no parking from 3:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. for snow removal. Cars can and will be towed from these areas and if your vehicle is hampering snow removal in other areas of the city it could also be towed. Please plan ahead and try to help our plowing crew do a more efficient job.

The city has a small crew that works very long hours when it snows, so please don’t expect them to do custom plowing of your driveway or in front of garages. Property owners are responsible for clearing their own snow and it should not be shoveled or plowed into a city right of way.
